Executive Bio
I am passionate about helping others discover
their best opportunities in business, life and for social good. And singing, surfing, spearfishing, cooking, eating great food...
Among other things I’ve been called a serial entrepreneur, having founded and operated nine businesses over the last two decades. The truth is however I have always just followed my passions from one arena to the next.
The result is a diverse career that spans the international markets and cultures of Europe, Asia and the Americas and includes many colourful characters and situations. Needless to say it makes for a lot of good stories….
Perry opened his first retail store at the age of fifteen, which he ran after school and on weekends. Over the next several years, he developed the little skateboard boutique into two retail stores, Toronto's only indoor skateboard facility, a national action sports magazine and his first international brand, Fishlips Skateboards.
After several years communting between San Diego and Toronto, Perry left the skateboard business at the beach and took up the role of protagonist in the burgeoning Canadian snowboarding industry. Having
already dabbled in snowboard production under the Fishlips brand, Perry founded Limited Snowboards Inc. in 1993. Riding his biggest wave yet, Perry carved his way through Asia, Europe and the America's as Limited went on to become the largest Canadian snowboard brand worldwide. In 1998 Perry sold Limited Snowboards to former Olympian Hank Kashiwa and Apple financier Mike Maarkula of the Volant Ski Company LLC, Colorado and spent the next two years overseeing first the integration and then eventual re-sale of his company.
After retiring from snowboarding, Perry began his career as a Producer and Director cutting his teeth on commercials and music videos. Not one to start small, his first video was LEN's follow up to their top-ten hit 'Steal My Sunshine' for Sony Music followed by an apprenticeship on the feature film K9 P.I. with Jim Belushi.
In 2002, Perry began his relationship with the Canadian Broadcast Corporation (CBC) as a producer of radio documentaries, eventually becoming a content consultant to Radio One. That same year he also earned a place on the Canadian National Freedive Team by setting an underwater breath-holding record of 6:01 minutes. He later went on to become
an international judge for AIDA, the world federation of Freediving, officiating world-records and training other judges around the globe.
In early 2003 Perry became a founding principal of the Israel Global Television Network (IGTN). Following meetings with Shimon Peres and other top Israeli officials, Perry and his partners successfully secured key government and industry endorsements. Nevertheless the network never made it to air.
Over the next several years Perry focused his efforts on small business development in Central and South America working with local entrepreneurs, spearfishing for dinner and perfecting the art of opening coconuts with a machete.
Missing the hustle and bustle,
in 2006 Perry returned to Toronto to join forces with award winning designer Tony Enns to form Brand & Tonic Inc., a boutique branding and design agency specializing in identity and packaging.
In 2010 Perry launched his private consultancy practice providing vision, guidance and advice to clients seeking new opportunities for growth and development. His roster includes companies and organizations of all sizes across a variety of industries from Ipsos and Brookfield Asset Management to Continental Hair to The Salvation Army.
2010 was also the year Perry released his first record as a singer-songwriter under the name Prince Perry. This was followed up in early 2011 by a second release and an ongoing a series of shows and tours for him and his backing band The Gladtones.
Perry splits his time between Toronto, Costa Rica and other locales where he offers and presents business consultation, strategy workshops, inspirational speaking and live music.
